Trading Plans/Forecast Published Monday Morning – Medium-term Models

“For today, Monday 04/15, our medium-term models indicate carrying the long opened on Friday at 2904 with the current 13-point trailing stop anchored at 2897.54 until the stop is triggered. If the stop is triggered, the models would stay flat for the rest of the session.”  

Trading Plan Results/Outcome

Mon 04/15:  One long position opened at 2904 carried into next session with a 13-point trailing stop now anchored at 2895.32

The S&P 500 index opened higher at 2908.32, lifting the anchored trailing stop to 2895.32. The position stayed open into the session close and is being carried to Tuesday’s session.

Trading Plans/Forecast Published Monday Morning – Aggressive Intraday Models

“For today, Monday 04/15, our aggressive intraday models indicate going long on a break above 2904 with an 8-point trailing stop. No short trade indicated for today. “

Trading Plan Results/Outcome:

Mon 04/15:  Booked a net 5.69 index point in losses on two long

The index broke above the 2904 level around 10:00am ET, triggering a long position with an 8-point trailing stop. The index reached interim high within the next few minutes at 2905.07, lifting the stop trigger to 2897.07. The stop trigger was hit around 10:40am, closing the position with a loss of 6.93 index points. 

The index again broke above the 2904 level around 1:40pm, triggering another long position with an 8-point trailing stop. The position was closed at 2905.24 at 3:55pm as per the “intraday” mandate, registering a profit of 1.24 index point. 

Thus, the models booked a net loss of 5.69 (-6.93 +1.24) index points on two long positions in the session.

NOTE: Remember that a “trailing stop” works differently from the traditional stop-loss order. Please bear in mind that the trailing stop’s trigger level would keep changing throughout the session (click here to read on the conceptual workings of a trailing-stop).
